Overview

Piraniant has a good physical defense and attack, but is sabotaged by its poor special defense. Piraniant is unique in that it is the only non-Nature Tem with access to Revitalize, and its Water typing allows it to support Nature partners through Revitalize healing and fending off Fire-type attackers with Water-type moves. Ultimately its low speed makes it struggle to take advantage of its support techniques, and its one-dimensional offensive technique options prevent it from functioning consistently as a damage dealer until Energy Reserves is activated.

Description

(1.3 DUKE'S NOTES - THIS THING ISN'T AS GOOD WITH PURGATION AS IT WAS IN 1.0, BUT IT CAN NOW USE FLUID BARRIER WHICH IS A BONKERS STRONG MOVE, AND FOLLOW IT UP WITH TWO HEALING MOVES. ALSO SAIPAT GOT THE CAPTAIN AMERICA TREATMENT SO FLUID BARRIERING IT IS PRETTY BASED)

Piraniant is an insanely physically bulky water who deals a lot of up-front water damage while also having access to great support techniques like Purgation and Revitalize. Sadly, the speed and special defense stats really let Piraniant down, and without a second STAB type to mix up its damage like Garyo and Kalabyss, Piraniant is rarely chosen for high-level teams.

The 1.0 balance patch has strongly encouraged Piraniant to run a speedy set to get the most out of Ultrasound, Revitalize, and Purgation.

Piraniant can trade its gear for Shuine's Horn to turn Noxious Bomb into one of the hardest-hitting turn 1 water moves in the game, if you wish it, but Diabolo works really well for a tem that's all about helping its allies.

Piraniant loves tems that can help it deal with Toxics, appreciate Purgation and Revitalize after the opponent attacks instead of before it, and tems that appreciate being next to Waters. It also really wants to be with slow hard-hitting tems like Tyranak, Yowlar, and Rhoulder. 236 speed Piraniant Purgations ahead of Tyranak's 2 prio attacks.
